Homestead Crater

7676bLooking for a one-of-a- kind activity this summer? Look no further than the Homestead Crater, a natural geothermal spring hidden within a 55-foot tall beehive shaped limestone rock located on the Homestead Resort property. The crater’s opening allows sunlight and fresh air to filter in while the fresh mineral water heats the interior to a cozy 96 degrees Fahrenheit.

This unique formation is 10,000 years in the making, formed when melting snow on the Wasatch Mountains seeped deep within the earth, eventually forming this volcano-shaped deposit we now know as Homestead Crater. These crystal clear warm waters are perfect for swimming, soaking, snorkeling, and even paddle board yoga! As it is the only warm water scuba diving destination in the continental U.S., getting scuba certified in this crater would be a once in a lifetime opportunity. Contact the Crater Activity Center 435-657-3840 for reservations and availability year round.
